Sellafield Ltd

Teachers from Industry has worked with BNFL/Sellafield Ltd since 1996 and we provide their 'Succeeding with Science in the Classroom' educational programme, formerly known as 'BNFL in the Classroom', in the Warrington, Halton and St Helens areas.  The programme provides primary schools with 'hands-on' science workshops for pupils aged 5 to 11 years.

Sellafield Ltd have produced an educational DVD, called 'The Pandora Project' which contains three case studies of creative approaches to primary science, one of these features Teachers from Industry's M.A.D. Science Electrical Circuit Workshop. All primary schools can request a FREE copy of this by visiting:

Teachers from Industry also provide 'Science & Engineering Extra' in the Warrington, Halton and St Helens areas where Sellafield employees nominate primary schools for these additional 'hands-on' workshops.

"Science has been brought to life. The children had fun and gained valuable experience from the hands-on approach provided by BNFL"

St Peters R.C. Primary School, Woolston.

"We were privileged to have had in our school representatives from BNFL. Our school was nominated for this project and we were delighted to be successfully selected to have some extra science lessons delivered to our Year 1 and Year 3 pupils. In addition to their work last year on electrical circuits, BNFL chose to use 'Bricks and Mortar' this year to support the children's work on materials in science. This project is funded by the community affairs committee of BNFL"
