We have specialised, since 1990, in teaching primary school
children about electrical safety in the home and the environment. We welcome
any possible sponsors to get in contact to
promote Child Safety.
Suzanne Brown, Managing Director of Teachers from Industry
Ltd, researched the teaching of electrical safety to primary school children
as part of her Masters Degree in Education.
From 1990 to 1996 we developed and provided the electrical
safety programme 'Play Safe with Manweb' and 'Play Safe with Wilby', this
went to over a quarter of a million primary school children in North Wales
(in Welsh and English) and Merseyside and Cheshire.
We have provided staff and resources for 'Crucial Crew'
events on behalf of Norweb Plc. Also electrical safety education lessons as
part of the 'BNFL in the Classroom' programme from 1996 to 2000.
Between September 2003 and March 2008 Teachers from Industry provided the
'Be Safe with ScottishPower'/'PowerWise' Programme in England, Scotland and
Wales. We designed a bespoke service for them which made teaching the
dangers of electricity fun and exciting, but most importantly memorable and
life saving. By the end of March 2008 we had taught this programme to
192,438 children. The effectiveness of the programme was recognised when
ScottishPower won the IOSH Zurich Municipal Supreme Safety Award 2007.
ScottishPower then also went on to win the International DuPont
Safety Award 2007, Innovative Approach category.
