Pulleys

A fun, two hour 'hands-on' technology workshop for up to 30 pupils in Years 1 or2. This workshop supports Unit 2C 'Winding Up' in the QCA Scheme of Work.

Our experienced teacher will use LEGO DACTA ® Early Simple Machines Student Sets (9654) with the pupils assisted by their class teacher to:

  • investigate pulleys

  • build from a Building Instruction Cards a model with a pulley belt system

  • build a fishing rod with a pulley mechanism

  • design and make their own fishing rod or pulley system.

This workshop can be extended into a three and a half hour workshop and used to support a 'Gifted and Talented' Programme.

"From designing a pulley system for the lighthouse keeper’s lunch basket to controlling remote vehicles, every year group has had equal fun and intellectual stimulation."

Felicity Taylor, The Queens Junior School, Chester.

"Brilliant! Children very engaged and focused. Super results from excellent direction."

Atherton Infant School, Ellesmere Port.
